Education is a Game Changer

Today it’s nearly impossible to find a sustainable career that pays a living wage without some secondary education. Those with a college education earn more over a lifetime and have the greatest chance to build wealth.

Yet access to a secondary education is out of reach for too many Oregonians, where only 60% of low-income students complete high school, only 51% of low-income high school graduates enroll in college, and only 11% complete their college degree.

We believe that higher education is life changing and should be accessible to all who aspire. Our mission is to bring together caring adults and talented, low-income children to make their dream of a college degree a reality.

Our results are profound. 100% of Marathon Scholars graduate high school. Almost 100% enroll in college. Over 67% complete college – 6 times the national average for low-income students.
